Black Cochins have fluffy, downy plumage, giving them a large bulky appearance. They are a beautiful coal-black color. Before molting their juvenile feathers, they may have some white plumage, but as adults will be solid black. They are highly prized for exhibition and their docile temperament. Like other Cochins, they make great pets, but are relatively poor producers of medium size brown eggs. Comb: Single. Standard weight at maturity: Hen 8½ lbs, Males 11 lbs.
