Fawn and White Runner ducks have been used for hundreds
of years in rice paddies and fields to clean scattered
grain, snails, and insects. Herders used a bamboo
pole with a cloth strip attached to one end to steer them
into the fields. Their unique upright stance enables them
to move much quicker than most other breeds of ducks.
Runner ducks are productive layers and can lay 200
white, chicken-sized eggs per year.

Additional Information: Please refer to FAQ "LIVE CHICKS" for additional chick shipping information. Ducks have a tendency to dehydrate during shipping. We recommend the following upon arrival: (1)Provide an abundance of fresh sugar water in shallow water founts, with the water no more than 1/2 inch deep. (2)After about 10-15 minutes, when all the ducklings have had an opportunity to drink, remove all of the water. (3)After 10-15 minutes, without water, return the water and repeat this process 1 or 2 more times and do not let them ever run out of water. Our experience has shown that this process reduces the incidence of water logging, which is the main cause of early duckling mortality. |
