About Heartwood Houses:
Function and architectural detail are not a byproduct of Heartwood's manufacturing process; instead they are the focus of an intense and purposeful design plan. The design must be creative and fresh to capture the imagination. "Cute" sells, but quality of design and material make it last. Though Heartwood products are not guaranteed for a lifetime, they are designed and built with that goal in mind. Many of the design features and innovations were developed in-house and are not available anywhere else in the world.
Most construct houses from western red cedar or eastern white pine, both of which must be cut and hauled from Canada, thousands of miles away. At Heartwood, their ingenious manufacturing process is "wood wise" and low carbon, utilizing short pieces of cypress and mahogany that would otherwise be discarded or used to fire kilns. Their lumbar suppliers are within a 2-hour drive, providing jobs at home while keeping their carbon footprint minimal. And as a domestic manufacturer, they keep all their shipping right here in the U.S.
