Jersey Black Giants were developed in the late 1800’s to meet the demand for a large meat bird. They were developed
from crosses of Langshans, Orpingtons, and Javas, resulting in the largest breed of chicken developed in America. They grow a large frame first before filling out with enough meat to harvest at about 6 months old. The hens are good egg layers, even through cold weather.
