Hatchery's Choice of Silkie Bantams. Minimum order 15 Total Bantam Chicks. If you're looking for a type of chicken that is both unusual and strikingly beautiful, look no further than Silkies. Silkies have silky, hair-like feathers and dark, purple tinted skin that distinguish this amazing breed from all other types of chickens. Their feathered legs and walnut comb add to their already unusual characteristics. Although Silkies are poor producers of small lightly tinted eggs, they make excellent pets due to their friendly and docile dispositions. Silkies are a somewhat delicate breed and extra care should be taken to keep them cool during the hot summer months.
