Of German origin, this breed was brought to the United States in the 1900’s. The Lakenvelder is an efficient egg producer of medium white eggs, but is now considered
a rare variety that is used primarily for exhibition. The combination of their graceful carriage and striking contrasts of black and white plumage make them an extremely
attractive breed. Good foragers and cold weather breed.
